FEBRUARY 3, 2024

The Lord Baltimore Hotel Grand Ballroom

For more than a year, Pippa and Munch lived only a few city blocks away from each other. Both dogs were social butterflies around the neighborhood, with Pippa even reaching national stardom for her adoption story, but the two had never crossed noses. One crisp fall afternoon, all of that changed. Both pups were out for walks with their moms in Riverside Park in South Baltimore when their eyes met. It was love at first… “body slam?”

Munch, who’s a little wobbly on his feet, crashed right into Pippa. Sturdy on her feet, Pippa didn’t seem to mind. This meant a lot to Munch because his unsteadiness often makes other dogs upset and uneasy. As their moms chatted and tossed them treats, Pippa appreciated that Munch let her eat ALL of the cookies without hesitation. While eating grass and rolling in leaves, Pippa shared with Munch that she recently completed a long “Bucket List” after outliving her cancer diagnosis, but there was just one thing left: To find true puppy love and a best friend…

…to wag and to hold, from this day forward, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish always.

Check. And the rest is history!

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Pippa Maloy and Manny “Munch” Deacon on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at The Lord Baltimore Grand Ballroom. This event is a gala-style fundraiser for the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS).

more About the Bride

pIPPA MALOY

Pippa, formerly Pretty Girl, arrived at BARCS in January of 2022. At 10 years old, she had lived a difficult life spent mostly in a yard. She was underweight, missing much of her fur, had dermatitis. otitis, arthritis and multiple mammary masses. Despite all of this, she was incredibly spunky and sweet and quickly won the heart of a volunteer and foster, Kailynn, who welcomed Pippa into her home with open arms. Soon after, Pippa's mammary masses were removed and tested and it was determined that she had cancer...a word her foster mom never wanted to hear. Kailynn chose to adopt Pippa and help her check off a "Bucket List" of fun items in her remaining days. Pippa completed this list with flying colors and is still by her mom's side, outliving her diagnosis by quite some time!

Pippa is the dog-daughter of Kailynn Maloy.

maNNY “mUNCH” DEACON

Munch formerly Moon Pearl 1, came to BARCS in the Spring of 2018 along with his littermates. As a puppy, he received all the initial care he needed (vaccines, preventatives, neuter surgery, etc.). He went on to be a star in Pawject Runway that year, where he slept soundly in the arms of his NFL runway escort. Never mind the 2,000 people cheering and the loud music production of the show! Munch was adopted that night by a staff member, Bailey. He has since been a dog ambassador for BARCS, attending several school presentations each year. Munch is so very thankful to have spent his life with a loving family. This past year, he lost some mobility in his hind legs, but that hasn't stopped him from being the lovable goof that he is!

Manny “Munch” is the dog-son of Bailey Deacon
